Public, Private or Share with Contacts
Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Each of your bookmarks can be marked Public (shared with everyone), Private (only seen by you) or Share with Contacts. Contacts are other SharingLinks users who have decided to watch your bookmarks. Your Contacts are other SharingLinks users who’s bookmarks you want to watch. Your contacts may be your teachers, your friends, or complete strangers :) whose links you find interesting.

In order to benefit the SharingLinks community, please keep most of your bookmarks public. This way we all can learn from each other. If everyone kept all their bookmarks private, there would no tag surfing for others to enjoy.

To add a Contact, you must be on the Contact’s bookmark page. You can get there either by:

  • Clicking on their username displayed below any of their bookmarks
  • Or if you know their username, you can go directly to their bookmark page by replacing their username in the following URL:

    http://www.sharinglinks.com/bookmarks/their-username-here

Once you are on their bookmarks page, scroll down, and in the lower right-hand corner you will see “Add To My Contacts”
