Video: How to Copy Bookmarks from Internet Explorer
Sunday, February 4th, 2007

This movie requires flash version 8 or better.

Today’s video topic is how to copy your existing Internet Explorer Favorites into Sharing Links. The process consists of two steps:

* First an export from IE
* Then an import into Sharing Links

Open Internet Explorer then click File, Import and Export. This opens the Import/Export Wizard.

From here, click Next, then choose Export Favorites (and Next.)

Internet Exlorer lets you choose whether you want to export ALL your favorites (select Favorites) or any of your folders. We are going to choose a single folder titled “Squished Pennies.

Now, we need to choose where we want to save the file (by default it is called bookmark.htm). Be sure to remember WHERE you put this file, because we are going to need it in the next step.

Now, visit http://www.sharinglinks.com/importbrowser/ . (If you forget where you need to go on this step, you’ll find it on the HELP page and on the Add Bookmark Page.)

Click Browse to find your saved bookmark.htm file.

Add tags to apply to imported links. Check Use Folder Names as Tags if your bookmarks are organized in folders.  If you import a single folder (without any sub-folders), you can not use the feature. You must have both a “Parent Folder” and a “Child Folder” in order to use the “Child Folder” names as tags.

Select your privacy option (we recommend Public whenever possible) and it a few seconds you will be redirected to your My Bookmarks page.

Now is a good time to add tags. Click Edit, and add tags or re-use existing tags by clicking on previously used tags.
