What I noticed about the Halloween tag is that just a few users (including me!) have contributed Halloween sites. But when we look at a related
tag “holidays” we see a lot more users adding sites, so there is more variety.

I had another idwea that would make the site really useful for me as an educator – is it possible to provide a link directly into a users area (eg so I can send the kids directly to my page of links via a URL that has already logged in?

I don’t understand the last phrase “already logged in”
but you can definitely use URLS .. here are some samples:
all your bookmarks:
